At Torrington Savings Bank, we believe an inclusive and accessible banking experience is just as important at our online branch as at our physical branches. That is why TSB brings a serious commitment to making our website accessible.
What Accessibility Standards Does TSB Use?
We have implemented the recommendations of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) as published by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Though some of the conformance found in WCAG conforms with 508 Compliance, we are not 508 Compliant.
Why Has TSB Chosen To Conform to These Standards?
Torrington Savings Bank has chosen to use WCAG for conformance because they are determined by the W3C, the consortium that makes the guidelines for the Internet, worldwide, and because these are the standards that have been suggested by the Department of Justice.
How Does TSB Test Against These Standards?
There is no single definitive test of conformance to Level AA of the WCAG.
Torrington Savings Bank uses a variety of methods for assessing our accessibility, not limited to but including automated testing and physical tests using screen readers and keyboard only navigation.
Torrington Savings Bank uses these testing methods as a baseline for conformance but we understand W3c’s position that ‘there is as yet no tool that can perform a completely automatic assessment on the checkpoints in the guidelines, and fully automatic testing may remain difficult or impossible’.
TSB’s Conformance Claim
Torrington Savings Bank strives to make every page accessible to users but cannot guarantee that every page conforms to Level AA. Our conformance claim can only extend to pages within the torringtonsavings.bank domain. Torrington Savings Bank cannot ensure conformance of crucial third-party plug-ins and widgets, and as such, Torrington Savings Bank does not claim full site-wide conformance, but instead a partial conformance, as defined by WCAG Level AA 2.0.

Large Format Checks
Torrington Savings Bank offers large format checks through our provider Harland Clarke for customers who may prefer using that format for use with their TSB checking accounts. Existing customers can securely order those checks online from their online banking access, and new or existing customers can also request these checks in branch.
ADA compliant ATMs
All of our branch ATMs conform to ADA specifications including braille keyboards, usable headphone jacks, and speech enabled service.
