Torrington Savings Bank Awards Two $10,000 Scholarships to Local High School Students
Torrington Savings Bank is pleased to announce that Jordan Haggard of Falls Village and Lauren Searle of Burlington are TSB’s 2022 Scholarship Award recipients. Each year the Bank offers two graduating seniors a 4-year, $10,000 academic scholarship ($2,500 per year).
Jordan will be attending Tufts University in Boston, MA where she will major in English and Art History. She graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School with a cumulative GPA of 4.2. Jordan was a member of Future Farmers of America, National Honor Society, and Student Council, serving as class Vice President all four years. She also participated in lacrosse and volleyball. In 2021 she was the recipient of the Bernard Berenson Art History Award and was a member of the 1st place team which won the Humanities Award in the “Design Your Own School” collaborative project sponsored by the 21st Century Fund. She has worked as a volunteer at the Norman Rockwell Museum and D. M. Hunt Library. She was also a volunteer content creator for Colonial Williamsburg which helped launch a new brand, Craft & Forge.
Lauren will be attending Michigan State University where she will major in Hospitality Business. Graduating from Lewis S. Mills High School with a cumulative GPA of 4.29, she was a member of the National Honor Society and National Foreign Language Honor Society. She also served on the United Way Youth Board and was a Day of Caring volunteer. While at Mills, Lauren was a member of the girls’ soccer, basketball, and track & field teams. She participated in Model UN, Book Club, Humanitarian Club, and Mills Club among others.
